Sort CSV Files Online

To sort a CSV file online, open your file in Large CSV Viewer and click any column header to sort ascending. Click again to sort descending. Sorting runs server-side using DuckDB on the full dataset — not just the visible rows — so it works on files with millions of rows. Export the sorted result as CSV, JSON, or Excel.

Sort any CSV file by any column online for free. Works on files of any size — sort millions of rows ascending or descending instantly.

Need to sort a CSV by date, amount, ID, or any other column? Large CSV Viewer lets you click any column header to sort ascending or descending — and unlike spreadsheet apps, sorting runs on the full dataset server-side, so it works even on files with millions of rows.

Key features

  • Click any column header to sort ascending, click again for descending
  • Sorting runs server-side on the full dataset — not just the visible page
  • Combine sorting with filters and search
  • Export the sorted result as CSV, JSON, or Excel

How it works

  1. Click a column header. Click any column header to sort that column in ascending order. Click again to reverse to descending. A third click removes the sort.
  2. Combine with filters. Apply column filters or a search query before or after sorting. The sort applies to all matching rows, not just the visible page.
  3. Export the sorted dataset. Use the File menu to export your sorted results as CSV, JSON, or Excel. The full sorted dataset is included in the export.

Frequently asked questions

Can I sort by multiple columns?

Currently, single-column sorting is supported. Multi-column sort is on the roadmap.

Does sorting work on the full dataset?

Yes. Sorting runs server-side using DuckDB on the entire dataset, not just the rows currently visible in the browser.

Can I sort a date column chronologically?

Yes. Date and datetime columns are detected automatically and sorted chronologically (not alphabetically) when you click the column header.

Can I export the sorted CSV?

Yes. Any sort and filter combination you apply is preserved in the exported CSV, JSON, or Excel file.

Is sorting free?

Yes, completely free with no row limits.
